We give animals in need a safe place to land, receive care, and learn to trust again. Inspired by the love of an unforgettable dog, we are building a sanctuary where animals and people can find comfort, belonging, and a way forward.

We rescue animals in need, provide daily care, help them find loving homes, and give them time to feel safe again. Our volunteers and supporters help make that care possible while we continue improving our animal spaces.
Healing and Connection
Our spiritual approach honors the bond between animals, people, and nature. We incorporate Reiki and gentle energy healing practices, guided by each animal’s comfort and offered alongside appropriate veterinary care.
Our Growing Vision
We are working toward expanded sanctuary spaces, lifelong care for animals who need it, humane education, and future programs connecting people with animals and nature. Our vision includes meaningful experiences for youth, families, and our wider community.
Where we are today
True North Sanctuary is actively rescuing and caring for animals on our 12.5 acre property in Athens, Ohio.
We have welcomed animals into care, helped them find loving homes, launched our volunteer program, and brought our community together to improve the sanctuary. Our barn and animal care spaces continue to grow through the generosity of donors and the work of volunteers.
Our priorities are daily care, veterinary needs, and safe, comfortable housing. Each improvement helps us build the foundation to help more animals responsibly, with intake guided by the space, resources, and care we can provide.
